LED application scenarios are shifting fast. Two years ago a phototherapy facial mask was a salon-only device; today it is a shelf-ready consumer product sold by beauty brands, dermatology clinics and even home-spa startups. Behind that shift sits one very small component: a multi-wavelength SMD LED that can pack red, blue, green, yellow and infrared light into a single 5.4 mm package.
This article looks at that component in detail — the 5050 RGBYIR multi-color SMD LED (model: 5050 SMD LED IR) — and explains where it wins, how it is specified, and what buyers should check before placing a PO.
Traditional mask designs stack separate red, blue and IR emitters. That means three BOM lines, three reflow profiles, three sets of solder joints and a thicker light engine. The 5050 RGBYIR collapses all of it into one PLCC6-type footprint with a 120° viewing angle:
Buyer note: because all channels sit in one chip, a 60-mA drive keeps the whole array cooler than a multi-chip layout — critical when the mask sits directly against the face for 20 minutes.

The fastest-growing channel. A 60–120 LED array driven at 60 mA delivers clinical-looking dose levels in a slim, flexible silicone shell. Brands love it because a single reel supports multiple SKUs: anti-aging (red + IR), acne (blue + red), brightening (yellow + green).
Panel makers use the same chip in high-density matrices where uniform irradiance matters. The 120° beam and tight wavelength bins (±5 nm on 590/625/830 nm) keep colour consistency across the panel — no visible "patches" after 1,000 hours.
830 nm plus 630 nm is the classic photobiomodulation pair. Combined with 1050/1064 nm for deeper penetration, the chip serves healing lamps and oxygen-injection adjunct devices.
The IR channels also fit hair-removal handsets and small medical accessories such as oximeter light sources, where a stable 1.3–1.7 V IR channel simplifies driver design.
The 5050 SMD LED IR series is produced by Dongguan Lanjin Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. (东莞市蓝晋光电有限公司), an LED manufacturer established in 2005 with a 2,500 m² anti-static, constant-temperature workshop. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, 2 national invention patents and 12 utility-model patents, and runs SMD LED, through-hole LED, LED display and LED PCB assembly lines under one roof — which is why phototherapy customers can source chip, reel and assembled light engine from a single supplier. Supply ability reaches 500 KK/month with MOQ from 1,000 pcs and 5–15 day lead time.
Curious how the 5050 RGBYIR would fit your next mask, panel or healing lamp? Send your target wavelengths, drive current and annual volume to Dongguan Lanjin Optoelectronics and ask for a wavelength-binned sample reel.
